High School Students in Cijantung Collaborate for Making Lanterns

As many as 60 students of SMAN 39 Jakarta and SMA Ignatius Slamet Riyadi, Cijantung, collaborated to make 32 unique lanterns in the SMAN 39 Jakarta's Hall Room, Jalan RA Fadillah, Cijantung, Pasar Rebo, East Jakarta, on Tuesday (1/21).
This is one form of togetherness between students in welcoming this year's Imlek (Chinese New Year) celebrations
They seemed enthusiastic about making lanterns with various shades using materials such as, ramin wood, croton textiles, acrylic paint and so forth.
SMAN 29 Jakarta Cultural Arts Teacher I Gusti Gede Adnyana Sutrisna said that they made them with cylindrical beam shapes in the sizes of 20x20 cm and 30x50 cm.

In its making process, there were eight groups and each group made four lanterns with different images such as, zodiac signs of rats, as well as various cultures from China, Japan, Korea and so forth.
"These lanterns will be brought to the City Hall," he said.
Ali Alatas (16), one of eleventh grade students admitted that he was happy as he could make lanterns by collaborating with students from other schools.
"I'm happy to be able to work together and add friendships from other schools," he stated.
